Yamaha Outboards has announced the addition of the F175, a new outboard that uses the same 2.8-liter in-line four-cylinder four-stroke block as the popular and lightweight F200 and VMax SHO 150. The F175 features 16 valves, dual overhead camshafts, a 50-amp alternator and mechanical throttle and shift controls. It is expected at dealers by mid-year. “This motor will broaden the line and be particularly valuable for all boats with transoms limited to 175 hp, as well as some inshore applications,” said Ben Speciale, Yamaha Marine Group president. “The F175 is another super versatile motor, with great repower potential for a variety of boats from bay to deep V, aluminum and more.” The F175 uses a single-throttle intake valve and Yamaha’s long-track intake tubes for easy breathing.
